Some updates
I have just released a quick fix for the PC-version that fixes a fatal bug with golden hearts. In doing so, I saw that I had not actually published the patch notes for the last version I released, back in the summer. Very professional! So here they are:
Version 4 news:
I have updated the PC-version of Numbertron again. This is not a big update, but there are some quality of life things and other minor fixes.
Unlike previous updates, it will not crash if you have an old settings file. It will reset the settings, though.
There is a new option to set the transparecy of respawned tiles. In case you find the background animations distracting, you can change it or turn it off.
You can now skip the name entry (for highscores, et.c.) with the mouse button or confirm on your gamepad, instead of having to use the keyboard for that.
There are a couple of new bonus fruits. I won't say what causes them to spawn.
Selected tiles will now have slightly enlarged numbers / icons, to make it even clearer where a move is going to take you..
The profile selection system for multiplayer should be a bit less wonky. There are some minor bugfixes as well.
Be aware that the previous version fixed a bug in the high score lists, so it could be that you have to delete the high scores file if you have an even older version installed already (I did test and it seems to work fine with the old files, but ... ). The high score file is located here: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Numbertron\
The future:
While there have not been any new releases here on Itch.io, I have been working on the game throughout the autumn, and have made a fair bit of progress. I currently feel a little stuck as many of the things I need to focus on are things I can't really do alone, such as graphics. But I am getting somewhere.
Among other things, I have started implementing the campaign (with unique levels), created new backgrounds, created a drawing mode where you can plan ahead, options for outlines and a few new graphics options/effects.
In the future, Numbertron for the PC will be released as a separate game, and I'm holding off on the updates for that version. I'll keep you posted on the future of the game. Thanks for your support so far, and please get in touch if you have feedback or ideas, or want to help with testing et.c.
Minesnake:
I mentioned earlier that I was planning on republishing Minesnake on Itch.io, but the game's old publisher, Sharpworks, have resurrected their Itch.io site and are now offering the game again. It is now free. You can find it here: https://sharpworks.itch.io/minesnake-for-the-mz-80a
I have not made any updates to that game. That might still happen in the future, but I am quite busy. That said, I am doing something Minesnake-related. :)
